It all started in around 1974 when Aaron Sprinkle, Scott Hunter, Nick Barber, and Jeremy Enigk were born. But that's going back too far...

The Beginning: In around 1989 Aaron, Scott, Jeremy, and Nick (along with a drum machine) formed a band called Tears Of A King. Scott and Jeremy traded off on vocals. But by September 1990 Tears Of A King was over (Jeremy had left) and Jesse joined the group on drums. The band was now called Bell Bang Villa. Yes, that's right Bell Bang Villa, Scott thought of the name before their Germany tour, Scott pictured Germany being a Bell Bang Villa. In 1991 Bell Bang recorded a 10 song demo called In Love With The Greenery. Not long after the demo Bell Bang Villa was changed to Poor Old Lu because Bell Bang Villa sounded too closely to the hip-hop group Bell Biv DeVoe. Poor Old Lu was a line the the C.S. Lewis book The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. Between 1991 and 1992 Poor Old Lu was constantly writing, playing, and recording their music. Here is (hopefully) a good list of their demos/album between 1991-1994.

Three Song Demo: In the summer of '91 the band recorded their fist demo as Poor Old Lu at RCB Studios. It was called Three Song Demo(pretty clever, huh?). It included: Center Of Your Ways, Wherefore, and This Theatre.

Star*Studded*Super*Step: In 1992 Poor Old Lu descided to do a decent demo. They produced it themselves (on an 8-track 1/2), then recruted Dan Nelson as the mixer. They spent their High School Spring Break recording Star*Studded. They released it indepently on cassestte (3 years later they put it on C.D.). Star Studded...featured early versions of such gems: Sometimes Cry, Cannon-Fire Orange, Peapod, and To Be Awake.

Mindsize: 1993 was the year for Poor Old Lu. Aaron, Nick, and Scott were all 19 or 20 and Jesse was 17. Terry Scott Taylor (record producer) had heard a demo of POL (probably Star Studded) and offered to record them. He also got them to sign to Alarma (a later regret) for 5 albums. The record was called Mindsize. The majority of the songs were just better recordings of Star Studded songs
